WELCOME TO PARENTS HELPING KIDs
Founded by a dad on a mission: to be a better parent and bring together a tribe of fellow moms and dads doing the same. Fun, real, and built for parents who want to grow together.
Here you’ll find stories from the dad trenches, bedtime battles, school projects gone sideways, impromptu dance-offs in the kitchen, each one wrapped in a lesson learned (and often learned again). We’ll celebrate the small wins, commiserate over the epic fails, and always keep the mood light with some fun.
Expect practical tips that actually work, honest admissions when I’ve messed up, and tiny rituals that make chaotic days feel like traditions. It’s parenting, not perfection…
Pull up a chair. I’ll bring the stories, the lessons, and the dad jokes. You bring the snacks.
Meet Don (the Dad author)
Hi, I'm Don, founder of Parents Helping Kids, Children’s Book Author, and a dad still trying to figure it all out.
I started this platform because of three things that shaped me more than anything else: working with kids at Sunday school, writing children's books, and raising my own three children, David, Michael, and Evelynn.
The honest truth is, I made a lot of mistakes as a father. And when I finally started doing the real work on myself, I realized something: becoming a better parent and becoming a better person are the same journey. You cannot separate them.
Parents Helping Kids is where I share what I am learning along the way. No credentials. No clinical advice. Just a real dad, figuring it out, and putting it out there.
If I can, you can. Believe that.
There’s a more detailed write of me yapping away a bit more if you’re interested… ⬇️

A story that doesn't just entertain - it transforms how kids see themselves
I Am Karl follows a young pup who discovers that belief isn't magic, it's a skill. Through relatable moments every child faces, Karl learns to replace self-doubt with I am statements that build real, lasting confidence.
Read it together at bedtime. Practice the affirmations. Watch your child carry that inner strength into every new day.
“★★★★★
A valuable and thoughtful story that gives children an empowering way to understand themselves. My children loved choosing their own “I am” statements.”
“★★★★★
My son’s imagination exploded — he started coming up with all kinds of scenarios Karl could find himself in. A great addition for parents building an empowering library.”

My daughter loves it! A great way to teach kids to stand up to teasing and build confidence in themselves.”
